Inspired by the Canadian painter Mary Pratt who was known for her photo realistic still life paintings depicting her domestic life as a mother and wife, I find myself being soothed by the unexpected glimpses of light and beauty in the midst of the mundane moments of my own existence being a farm wife and mother in an isolated, rural region of Ontario, Canada.
This series is in it’s first awkward days, and like so much of my work, it is in the uncertainty where I find my greatest energy and inspiration. I wouldn’t want to even begin thinking about where this project may go. My thinking brain tends to get in the way of my creativity, so it is usually best if I just follow my curiosity and wait to see what happens.
